Private Hand Surgery in Dublin

HSE waiting lists for elective hand surgery currently stretch to 18 months to over 2 years in many parts of Ireland — leaving patients in pain, unable to work, and with worsening symptoms while they wait. At Excel Clinic in Dublin, we provide fast access to consultant-led hand surgery under local anaesthetic, with a one-stop service designed to get you from virtual consultation to surgery in as few visits as possible.

All hand surgery is performed by Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon Dr Mohamed Shaalan, who has a specialist interest in hand and wrist conditions. Whether you have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, or a ganglion cyst — or are unsure of your diagnosis — we can help.

Why Patients Choose Private Hand Surgery

For many patients the decision to go private comes down to one thing — time. Hand conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger cause real, daily disruption to work, sleep, and quality of life. Waiting 18 months or more for HSE treatment when symptoms are worsening is not a viable option for most people.

Skip the HSE waiting list

HSE waiting times for elective hand surgery in Ireland leave many patients waiting well over a year — often with worsening symptoms. At Excel Clinic Dublin, surgery is available within weeks of your free virtual consultation.

Patient Reviews

Excel Clinic’s wider group has received hundreds of verified reviews, reflecting consistent standards of care, communication, and patient experience.

“I had a ganglion on my wrist for years that kept coming back after being drained. The surgeon removed it properly and it hasn’t returned since. The whole procedure was much simpler than I expected and the scar is barely visible.”

“The team at Excel Clinic were professional from start to finish. I was seen within two weeks of my virtual consultation and was back at my desk three days later. Very happy with the result and the level of aftercare.”

My ganglion kept coming back after needle drainage. I finally chose to have it surgically removed. The staff at Excel were so friendly and supportive. The recovery was straightforward and my wrist feels stronger — I wish I had done it sooner.
